Paul Grabowsky announced as new Artistic Director!

Paul Grabowsky largerThe Adelaide Festival Corporation is delighted to announce Paul Grabowsky as the Artistic Director for the 2010 Adelaide Bank Festival of Arts.

At the Festival Centre's Piano Bar on Friday 4th January, Premier ans Minister for the Arts, Hon. Mike Rann MP officially welcomed Paul at a press conference, after which Paul graciously engaged his supporters and media with a classical piano recital.The distinguished pianist, composer and conductor was selected from an outstanding field of candidates to direct the Festival in its 50 th anniversary year in 2010.

Paul Grabowsky

Paul Grabowsky is a pianist, composer and conductor, and is one of Australia's most distinguished artists. He was until recently Artistic Director of the Queensland Music Festival, a position he has held since 2005. He is founder and director of the Australian Art Orchestra, which he established in 1994. The AAO is regarded as one of Australia's truly unique and important contemporary ensembles, and is renowned for its collaborations with musicians from India, Bali, and, most recently, traditional songmen from Arnhem Land. He was Commissioning Editor, Arts and Entertainment for ABC Television from 1996-98. He was a commissioner of the Australian Film Commission from 2003-07, and is an Adjunct Professor at the Griffith University Conservatorium.
