2020 marked Adelaide Festival's 60th anniversary: for over 60 years, audiences have delighted in an outstanding mix of internationally acclaimed theatre productions, an eclectic array of world-class musicians, breathtaking dance pieces, renowned writers and striking visual arts displays. Enjoyed amid warm March days and starry nights, Adelaide Festival’s celebration of creative excellence makes for an event of truly epic proportions.
2020 was the fourth Adelaide Festival presented by Joint Artistic Directors Neil Armfield AO and Rachel Healy. All of their festivals from 2017 – 2021 have been a resounding success breaking box office records. Neil and Rachel will direct the 2022 and 2023 Adelaide Festival programs, making them the longest serving Artistic Directors.

ABOUT ADELAIDE WRITERS' WEEK
Adelaide Writers’ Week is Australia’s largest free literary festival, offering both writers and readers a unique opportunity to spend time sharing ideas and literary explorations in a garden setting in Adelaide’s city centre. Each carefully selected program brings the world's most celebrated established and emerging writers together for a week that delights, surprises and enlightens audiences.
Each Adelaide Writers’ Week includes six days of free panel sessions that are presented live in the gardens, and made available online via podcast. The program also features a series of ticketed special events throughout the year, and the popular free Kids’ Weekend, which attracts hundreds of families for fun and engaging literary adventures. The directorship of Jo Dyer kept the traditional appointments but added some new (and very well welcomed) events, including the Middle and Young Adults day, the Twilight Talks and the possibility to stream selected events from home with the Curated Dozen.
Over the years, Adelaide Writers’ Week has seen some of the world’s greatest writers and thinkers in conversation about literature, politics, poetry, current events, biography, the short story and much, much more.

The Chairman’s Circle is a unique group of leading Adelaide Festival supporters whose influence, vision and direct engagement has an immediate and measurable impact on the Festival’s program each year.
As a collective, the Chairman’s Circle annual investment directly supports one prestigious work in the Festival program which is exclusive to the Adelaide Festival. The inclusion of a major opera as the centrepiece of the Festival has generated attention and excitement locally and nationally, but hallmark productions are expensive to produce and we cannot deliver work of this calibre and breadth without the philanthropic support of the Opera Donor Circle.

Adelaide Festival Corporation is the organiser of the Adelaide Festival.
This policy reflects our commitment to ensuring that our collection, holding, use and disclosure of information complies with the provisions of the Privacy Act 1988 (Act), in particular, the National Privacy Principles set out in Schedule 3 of the Act.

We take all reasonable steps to protect the personal information we hold from misuse, loss and unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.
- Collection, use and disclosure of personal information
3.1 Information for customers
3.1.1 Collection of your personal information
When you purchase your tickets to an Adelaide Festival event, in person, over the phone or online from third parties such as ticketing agencies (for example, Ticketek) or our hired venues, they collect your personal information, including your:
- Residential address
- Postal address
- Telephone numbers
- Email address
- Details of the performance you are buying tickets to
- Date of birth
- Credit card details
The terms of your third parties’ privacy policies apply to their collection, holding, use, and disclosure of your personal information. Those policies can usually be found on their websites.
Please note: Adelaide Festival is not given your credit card details by our ticketing agencies or our hired venues.
Use of your personal information
Our ticketing agencies and hired venues use your personal information in order to deliver your ticket, process your payment arrangements, contact you in the case of cancellation or major disruption of an event and replace lost tickets.
In general, the purpose for which we collect your personal information include:
- Placing you on mailing lists either electronically or postal
- To inform you of activities, events and products that may be of interest to you, including festival news or upcoming events
- Submitting entries to events or competitions
- To assist with enquiries you may have about the festival
- To maintain our business records
- To seek donations or sponsorship
- To carry out transactions with you, such as to process payments and donations received by you
- Any purpose that you would otherwise reasonably expect
If you no longer wish to receive marketing information from us, you can also contact our Executive Director (see section 6 below). Please allow 30 days for amendment of our records.
An unsubscribe facility is enabled with any broadcast email correspondence.
We also use your information, in anonymous form, for statistical purposes, to gain a better understanding of our audience.
3.1.2 Disclosure of your personal information
We may disclose your personal information to other organizations which provide us with marketing services, information technology services, or other services relating to our events.
We may also disclose your personal information if authorized or required to do so by law (for example, where we are required to disclose your personal information to a court in response to a subpoena).
We will not disclose your personal information for any other purpose without your consent.
3.1.3 Your right to anonymity
Where it is lawful and practicable to do so, you may undertake business with us without providing personal information. For example, you may purchase tickets to a Adelaide Festival event by cash payment, in person, over the counter, without providing personal information.
3.2 Information for business associates
3.2.1 Collection of your personal information
We may collect your personal information, including your:
- Work contact details including your email address
- Personal contact details such as your phone number
in person, over the telephone, by fax, or by email in order to undertake our daily artistic and administrative operations.
For example, we may have your contact details if you are our “point of contact” within an organization with which we do business.
3.2.2 Use of your personal information
We will only use your personal information for the business purpose for which it was collected.
3.2.3 Disclosure of your personal information
We will only disclose your personal information if necessary to achieve the business purpose for which it was collected.
3.3 Information for job applicants (including volunteers)
If you are applying for a job with us, you may be required to provide us with certain personal information, including your:

Any information posted on Adelaide Festival’s social media pages including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and/or communicated in chat areas becomes public information. While we strive to protect and respect your privacy, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you disclose via social media, a chat room or bulletin board.
We use aggregate information from our Facebook and Twitter accounts to better understand our audience, and answer your queries.
- Access to personal information
To obtain a copy of the personal information we hold about you, please contact our privacy officer (see section 6 below).
You will be required to complete and submit an access form.
You will also be required to provide proof of your identity. If you are applying by:
- Post, email or fax – you must attach a certified copy of your identification to the access form;
- In person – you must produce the relevant information to the privacy officer.
Documents that provide sufficient proof of your identity are:
- Your current driver’s license;
- The identifying page of your current passport;
- Your birth certificate; or
- A statutory declaration by an individual who has known you for at least one year.
We will not charge you to access your personal information.
- Correction of personal information
We take all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we collect, use and disclose is accurate, complete and up-to-date.
However, the accuracy of that personal information depends to a large extent on the information you provide to us. To help ensure the accuracy of the personal information we hold about you, please inform the Privacy Officer (see section 6 below) if:
- You become aware of any errors in the personal information we hold about you; or

READ OUR TERMS AND CONDITIONS
ADDITIONAL COVID-19 CONDITIONS
Adelaide Festival events are subject to changing COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. All attendees will be required to comply with all SA Government directions in place at the time of the event which may include, but is not limited to, QR check-in, wearing of masks and other conditions of entry.
Patrons must sit in their allocated seats as directed by venue management. In the case that capacity restrictions are further lifted or imposed prior to the event, Adelaide Festival will amend audience capacity and seating arrangements in line with Government directives.
FLEXIBLE TICKETING POLICY
In the case that a patron is unwell, is directed to go into quarantine and/or is isolating while awaiting further COVID-19 directions pertaining to a test, ticket exchanges can be facilitated on the following terms -
Ticket exchanges must be made in advance of the original event date on the ticket, and cannot be facilitated retrospectively
Ticket exchanges must be for a future performance of the same event, depending on availability. If an alternative date cannot be found, a refund will be given
For our interstate and overseas patrons who are affected by border closures and quarantine/isolation requirements, please contact Adelaide Festival as soon as practicable (in advance of the event) to advise your circumstances. If a ticket exchange cannot be facilitated, a refund will be given.
GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Tickets sold or issued by Adelaide Festival are subject to the following Terms and Conditions of Sale, and the Live Performance Australia (LPA) Ticketing Code of Practice. By purchasing or registering to attend an event, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions. Tickets may be subject to additional terms and conditions including specific conditions of entry issued by each venue.
Adelaide Festival reserves the right to change ticket prices, seating arrangements and audience capacity, at any time and without notice.
All bookings are subject to availability.
Maximum ticket limits may be imposed. Adelaide Festival reserves the right to cancel orders that exceed the limit.
Where concessions are applicable, suitable and valid identification of that concession must be provided for collection of tickets.
Lost or stolen General Admission tickets may not be replaced. Adelaide Festival reserves the right to charge an administration fee to issue replacement tickets for reserved seating events.
Ticket prices are displayed in Australian dollars and are listed inclusive of all ticketing fees and charges, however transaction fees will apply regardless of the number of tickets purchased.
Latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance. In some circumstances, latecomers may not be admitted at all. Adelaide Festival and venue management reserves the right of admission. Tickets will not be exchanged or refunded in these circumstances, unless required by law.
The use of cameras, mobile phones and recording devices is strictly prohibited and will result in removal from the venue without refund.
Adelaide Festival will take all reasonable steps to notify ticket holders of any event cancellations or rescheduled performances provided accurate patron details are given at the time of purchase.
Tickets may not be resold or offered for resale at a premium (more than 110% of the original ticket price) in line with South Australian Government legislation. If a ticket is sold or used in breach of this condition, the ticket may be cancelled without refund and the ticketholder refused admission to the event.
Tickets purchased through unauthorised resellers such as Ticketmaster Resale, eBay, Gumtree Viagogo, StubHub and similar organisations may be fraudulent and entry to the venue is not guaranteed. Adelaide Festival is not responsible for honouring or refunding tickets purchased from unauthorised agents or resellers.
Adelaide Festival will offer a refund if the event is cancelled, rescheduled or significantly relocated. Adelaide Festival is not responsible for any expenses incurred by the patron for example, cost of travel including car parking, child care and accommodation if the event is cancelled.
FESTIVAL FRIENDS TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The Adelaide Festival 2022 Friend membership is valid until 30 June 2022.
The cost of the membership is $180. Transaction fees apply when purchasing tickets.
Friends are entitled to 15% discount on adult ticket prices to select Adelaide Festival events, limited to two tickets per event.
Friends can access exclusive seating during the priority-booking period, on events presented by the Adelaide Festival (excludes opening nights and exclusive donor and sponsor performances).
Friends are entitled to exchange tickets to events presented by the Adelaide Festival. Exchanges will attract an $8.95 transaction fee per booking. Exchanges can be made by contacting Adelaide Festival on 1300 393 404, and are subject to the following conditions:
The performance that tickets are being exchanged from is not sold out
The performance that tickets are being exchanged into must have available capacity
Tickets can only be exchanged into a different performance of the same event (i.e., exchange from The Golden Cockerel to another performance of The Golden Cockerel)
If the new performance selected has a higher ticket price or seating in a higher price category is chosen, the difference in cost between the original tickets and the new tickets, is payable by the Friend
There are no refunds given if cheaper tickets are selected or for failure to attend the performance
Ticket exchanges must happen in advance of the performance, and cannot be made once the performance has taken place
Friend benefits vary annually at the discretion of the Adelaide Festival Corporation, and are subject to change depending on the Adelaide Festival program each year.
To access Festival Friend prices and priority seating online, please log in via the Adelaide Festival website before selecting a performance. Applicable discounted prices and seating will then become available for purchase. Tickets are also available for purchase by calling Adelaide Festival on 1300 393 404.

Tickets sold or issued by Adelaide Festival are subject to the following Terms and Conditions of Sale (see above).
COMPETITIONS AND GIVEAWAYS VIA THE WEBSITE AND/OR THE E-NEWSLETTER OR FESTIVAL SURVEYS
For competitions/giveaways through which entrants must answer a specific question, unless otherwise stated in the premise: a winning entry/entries will be drawn at random; the first entry/entries drawn containing the correct answer will win. For competitions/giveaways through which entrants must provide a response, unless otherwise stated in the premise, a winning entry/entries will be chosen by a panel representing the Adelaide Festival based on creativity, originality and adherence to the brief, at the discretion of Adelaide Festival Corporation.
