The 1990 Adelaide Festival was held from Friday, March 1 to Sunday, March 18, led by Clifford Hocking.

The distinctive flavour of Clifford Hocking's eclectic taste permeated almost all areas of the program, from a new Australian landmark production of Tristan and Isolde to the hundred voices of the Vienna Singverein, the powerful solo artistry of Peter Schrieier and Mercedes Sosa, Lyon Opera Ballet's Cinderella and the madcap French Circus Archaos.
