South Australian artists Alex Frayne and Capital Waste bring the streets, people and stories of America to life in a gallery exhibition and immersive experience that blends the physical and the digital. Alex Frayne’s photographs have captured the world’s dualities and life’s starkly contrasting threads of joy and sorrow.
Now, he has turned his lens on America in an epic photographic study interrogating the West, Deep South and Bible Belt of a nation in crisis. In Manifest Destiny, Frayne’s large-scale 2D analogue photographs explore American culture accompanied and transformed as moving images by renowned video artist and
cinematographer Capital Waste.
Completing the experience is an ambient soundtrack by artist Donnie Sloan (USA) of the famed hit-making electro-pop group Empire of the Sun. The work will span the 100sqm of LED screens in ILA’s immersive studio.
