Re-shaping Identity is the latest work by the dynamic Chinese dance duo GuoGuoHuiHui.

Five charismatic dancers from different ethnic backgrounds – including Tibetan, Yao, Uyghur and Han – strut on stage to share the traditional dances that have shaped their identities. But as a thumping electronic beat consumes the theatre, they collectively transform their traditional dances into contemporary expressions of liberation and living in the present.

The lives of these performers are transforming, as are the dances they carry within their bodies.

In this Australian premiere, experience artists who are at the forefront of the next wave of choreographic ideas shaping contemporary dance in China.
