AUSTRALIA

The hidden self is always in motion.

The inimitable Adelaide-based choreographer Larissa McGowan creates an explosive new work; pushing two of Australia’s most remarkable dancers to the edge to unpack the many versions of The Self we construct to navigate the world.

Leaping from Carl Jung’s concept of the “shadow”, two bodies merge and separate, embodying both themselves and each other’s shadows as reality begins to fracture.

Where does the self end and the other begin? Can you ever truly separate yourself from the parts we keep hidden?

An adrenaline-fuelled dance work performed by Ben Hancock and Connor MacDonald, ShadowSide invites you to witness the parts of ourselves we project onto the world, the sides we hide, and the strange, dark territory in between.

“Bendy, twisty, kick-arse choreography”
