JamFactory presents Gamilaraay/Gamilaroi artist Juanita McLauchlan’s first exhibition in South Australia. Working with reclaimed blankets and natural fibres, she transforms textiles through bush dyeing, stitching, felting and quilting to create cloaks, blankets and immersive installations.

Her work reflects on cultural loss, family and belonging, tracing the ongoing impacts of colonisation while affirming the strength of connection to culture, community and Country. As a mother of five, she describes her practice as an act of cultural continuity, carrying knowledge forward and fostering pride in the next generation.

Here McLauchlan will create a large-scale installation of dyed and stitched blankets, silk and possum fur to form an enveloping environment that will wrap, protect and hold visitors to culture and to place.
