This extraordinary performance is less an adaptation of James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake than an hour spent happily adrift within it. Possessed by an unearthly energy, Fouéré transforms Joyce’s prose into an undulating soundscape, inhabiting the voice of Anna Livia Plurabelle, the river’s personification.
