This extraordinary performance is less an adaptation of James Joyce’s Finnegans Wake than an hour spent happily adrift within it. Possessed by an unearthly energy, Fouéré transforms Joyce’s prose into an undulating soundscape, inhabiting the voice of Anna Livia Plurabelle, the river’s personification. And while the adaptation of such a formidable text sounds ambitious, this one-woman show is as humorous as it is exhilarating. Hear what Artistic Director David Sefton has to say about riverrun:
