Jóhann Jóhannsson (IS) & Zephyr Quartet appear at Unsound Adelaide: Saturday. The bill also includes Fennesz (AT) & Lillevan (DE), Vessel (UK) & Pedro Maia (PO), Hot Shotz - Powell (UK) & Lorenzo Senni (ITA), and Paula Temple (UK).

Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson’s varied and eclectic output includes commissioned works for Bang on A Can, Theatre of Voices and the Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, a collaboration with the New York-based experimental filmmaker Bill Morrison, and six solo albums through labels Touch and 4AD. Jóhannsson was awarded a Golden Globe and an Oscar in 2015 for his score to The Theory of Everything. He recently composed the score for the film Sicario, in collaboration with Denis Villenueve earning him an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Score in 2016.

Johannsson will perform with Adelaide’s Zephyr Quartet. Since its inception in 1999 the quartet has continuously pushed the boundaries of art music and how it is received by audiences. They've performed nationally and internationally at WOMADelaide, Soundstream: New Music Festival, Holland Dance Festival, Edinburgh International Arts Festival, and Adelaide Festival of Arts.
