United States / World Premiere, Exclusive to Adelaide
The Who’s iconic 1969 rock opera Tommy launched the band to international superstardom and inspired re-interpretations in film, opera, a stage musical and more. Now, in the 50th anniversary year of The Who, and with Pete Townshend’s blessing, the staggeringly successful double-album is re-interpreted in a radical new way. Led by vocalist, bassist and composer Eric Mingus and legendary producer Hal Willner, this re-working of the classic features an eclectic cast of rock and roll raconteurs in the starring roles, including Gavin Friday. Exclusive to Adelaide, this is Tommy as you’ve never seen or heard it before.
