    Imagine a floating dining room on the River Torrens – a casual, relaxed and beautiful place to kick back and enjoy the best local tastes, only for the Adelaide Festival. Join us for long summer lunches made by some of Australia’s best chefs, all with a distinct connection to Adelaide.

    In 2017 we’re dedicating The Riverbank Palais Long Lunches to the decade that many consider began the Adelaide food narrative – the 1980s. The era of long lunches, tax breaks, fusion and experimentation. Even if you weren’t there, you’ve tasted the 80s through the chefs that have been inspired by this amazing time of culinary creativity. This was the time Adelaide shot to worldwide culinary fame, producing chefs who have delighted around the world.

    The Long Lunch series will bring together the chefs who shaped (and still shape) our culinary destiny with those influenced and inspired by the times. Each chef will create a menu on this theme that showcases SA produce, all while sharing their own personal story. Some might have strayed and some have stayed but all will cook you a meal you’ll remember for years.

    The program, curated by Gill Minervini (Dark MOFO Winter Feast) with food consultant Duncan Welgemoed (Africola, Lola’s Pergola) features Cath Kerry, Mark Best, Christine Manfield, Michael Ryan, Cheong Liew and Karl Firla.
