Historian Avi Shlaim’s Three Worlds: Memoirs of an Arab-Jew combines a fascinating family story of moving from Baghdad to Israel with a historical account of Iraqi Jews during an especially calamitous period. Shlaim joins via live stream for this conversation with Debbie Whitmont.

Avi Shlaim was born in Baghdad and grew up in Israel. He is now a Professor of International Relations at St Antony's College, Oxford. His previous books include the critically acclaimed The Iron Wall and he writes regularly for the Guardian, Middle East Eye and other outlets.

Debbie Whitmont is a journalist and author, former ABC TV Middle East correspondent and winner of two Walkley Awards and three Human Rights TV Awards as a reporter for ABC TV's Four Corners.
