Stay COVID safe content

Being COVID Safe is a shared responsibility. We want you to enjoy the Festival and stay safe.

The Adelaide Festival, including Adelaide Writers’ Week, will be delivered under COVID plans following strict guidelines set by the SA Health. We will provide any necessary updates via website, social media, and/or direct communication with registered attendees and ticket buyers.

SA Health requires the Adelaide Festival to keep a register of contact details for all attendees to assist with contact tracing in the event of an outbreak. You may be refused entry if you do not provide this information. Your information will be stored securely for up to 56 days post event. The data will not be used for any other purpose.

Due to the uncertainties of COVID19, Adelaide Festival has introduced updates to the ticketing policy giving patrons more flexibility in the case of illness or border closure.

All Adelaide Festival events, including Adelaide Writers’ Week, will operate under SA Health approved capacities.

Indoor venues (seated performances)

Most Adelaide Festival shows are operating at 75% capacity. This means that there will likely be a person seated next to you.

Venues will open one hour prior to the performance time.

  • All patrons aged 12 and over must wear a mask while inside the building, including during the performance. A patron is not required to wear a mask if they have a relevant medical condition, and venue staff may request evidence of exemption to be shown.
  • Sit in your allocated seat.
  • Follow directions given by Adelaide Festival and venue staff and volunteers, especially in adhering to wearing of masks and physical distancing in the foyers, and when transferring between areas inside the venue.

Where masks are required as a Condition of Entry, patrons are strongly encouraged to bring your own masks. There will be a limited number of masks available for those who may have forgotten to bring their own.

Adelaide Writers’ Week will be operating under a COVID Management plan approved by the SA Department of Health. Our COVID plans will be updated to align with the changing situation and this page will be updated with any additional information available over time.

The Pioneer Women’s Memorial Garden will be fenced to monitor numbers and facilitate contract tracing, with entry at three points:

  1. King William Road
  2. Victoria Drive (King William Road end)
  3. The main path leading from Kintore Avenue into Pioneer Women’s Memorial Garden

You will need to undertake a COVID-safe Check-in on arrival at the Garden each day. This may cause delays at peak times. Download the mySA GOV app before you arrive. If you don’t have a smartphone, Writers’ Week staff can register you manually.

For all sessions at the East and West stages, you will need to leave an empty seat between you and the next person. Please do not move the seats.

The Book Tent has a reduced capacity so we ask you to be patient if you have to queue for entry.

COVID Marshals will be present at all times.

We strongly recommend all purchases in the Book Tent and at Let Them Eat catering are made by card.
